Facilitator asks medics:

Who remembered to

  • Put on gloves?

  • Introduce themselves?

  • Get consent?

  • Control the scene?

  • Stick with your buddy?

Facilitator asks medics and patients: 1
  1. This patient was hard to find. How long did it take the medics to get to this patient? Patient was unconscious; did medics talk to patient while doing assessment? Did medics call 911? EMS may have arrived and assumed care: were there issues transferring care?

  2. Visible injuries are distracting. How did medics triage and talk to the person? This person has Hep C; if medics did not do careful BSI they have been exposed.

  3. Was there respect for gender preference? Consent? C-spine precautions?

  4. Did medics help this person have something to do? Did medics check for hidden injuries (cracked iPad means something happened)?

  5. People with head injuries often act drunk, and people who are perceived as alcohol or drug users are often under-treated, especially when they have possible head injuries.

  6. Arrested if goes to hospital; no money for hospital bills.

  7. Did medics investigate MOI? Did medics call 911?

  8. Did medics use their resources to investigate MOI?

  9. Did medics recognize a breathing problem, calm the person, find out what was going on, call 911?

  10. Was the union member able to help?

Did medics protect folks from losing too much heat? How did medics deal with the building security?

Facilitator asks other actors

for comments.

Students

Stay in buddy pairs and do buddy check-in about the day so far -- permission, ground, body feelings, basic needs, action, and thanks.

  1. These questions are geared towards medics, but are meant to facilitate discussion between patients and medics.
